Monday morning brought the opening of the Barnabas Cafe. The smell of coffee wafted out of the door, enticing those who walked by. For those first few customers, they were greeted with warm smiles and even warmer cappuccinos . And while we are in the beginning stages of growing the business, the sense of community is already there.
Our goal is to build community in the Leeman Road area of York. The demographic of this area is quite diverse, representing all ages and a variety of cultures. We would like to be a place where people can meet over a latte and have good conversation. We would also like to grow that into weekly activities, like Knit and Natter, where people can teach and learn new skills.
We are also really excited that our coffee is locally roasted by the York Coffee Emporium and that it is Rainforest Alliance Certified. We have a large and varied menu, offering the usual lattes and cappuccinos as well as offering cafetieres, and loose leaf tea.
So if you are in the York area, we would love for you to drop in for a visit. The cafe is open Monday-Friday, 9am-2pm.
